Williams and Corcoran in heated exchange

Rigondeaux vs Dickens

British and Commonwealth super-welterweight champion, Liam Williams, and his upcoming opponent, Gary Corcoran, shared a heated exchange at today’s press conference at the Ice Arena in Cardiff.

Williams will defend his titles against the undefeated Corcoran on July 16th at the Ice Arena in Wales.

Williams, is keen to step up to the world stage after stopping Gustavo Alberto Sanchez inside three rounds earlier this year and is convinced his power will be too much for Corcoran to cope with.

“I’m not bothered by what he’s going to try and do. If he comes to box I’m going to outbox him and he definitely doesn’t want to come and have a fight with me because he’s going to get himself hurt,” said Williams.

“He’s not going to keep rushing forward when I’m landing big shots on him trust me. This fight is only going to end one way; Gary is getting knocked out. I’ll see him in the middle of the ring on July 16th.”

Corcoran, keen to retain his undefeated record, is ready to test Williams.

“Let’s be honest, who has he fought? I’ve fought better fighters than him. He’s not a big puncher, he’s an average puncher. Everyone seems to think he’s Golovkin but nobody has tested him yet,” said Corcoran.

“Coming down to Wales to fight him on his own patch doesn’t bother me one bit. I can’t wait for the fight, he can hit this chin as much as he wants. I’ll let him have a free crack at it as well. We’ll see who’s on the back foot.”

Williams and Corcoran will face off on an exciting undercard which will see Guillermo Rigondeaux defend his WBA Super-Bantamweight crown against Jazza Dickens in the main event.

Also on the card; British and Commonwealth Champion Super Bradley Skeete will make the fifth defence of his WBO European Welterweight title and Tommy Langford defends his WBO Inter-Continental crown.

Jamie Conlan, Joe Pigford, Craig Evans, Alex Hughes, Gary Buckland, Jay Harris, Dale Evans, Gary Sweeney, Tyrone McKenna and Rhys Saunders will also feature on the card.
