Parker and Chisora to meet in rematch before end of year, with Mikey Garcia returning next month
Dillian Whyte has had his next opponent confirmed after Matchroom Boxing unveiled three new fight nights.
The Brixton heavyweight, who holds the WBC interim title, had been handed his return date earlier this month.
Whyte, nicknamed ‘The Body Snatcher’, will be back in action on October 30 at the O2 Arena in London.
And the identity of the man who will be in the opposite corner on the night has now been confirmed.
Otto Wallin, the Swedish southpaw who gave Tyson Fury a competitive 12 rounds in September 2019 in Las Vegas, will face Whyte, exclusively live on DAZN.
Whyte breathed fresh life into his career back in March when he avenged last year’s shock fifth-round loss to Alexander Povetkin with an emphatic fourth-round victory, while Wallin is coming off a pair of wins since losing to ‘The Gypsy King’ –– who will take on Deontay Wilder in a defence of his WBC world heavyweight crown on October 9 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as the pair vie for supremacy in their third outing –– having stopped Travis Kauffman in five before widely outpointing two-time world title challenger Dominic Breazeale back in February.
Also on the Matchroom and DAZN schedule, the rematch between former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker and Finchley’s Derek Chisora will take place before the end of the year.
The pair fought to a split decision over 12 rounds back in May at the AO Arena in Manchester and the same venue will play host to their return on December 18.
Chisora, who recently inked a new managerial deal with Anthony Joshua’s 258 Management after his split with David Haye, had long chased the rematch with the New Zealander, while Parker had been earmarked as a potential future opponent for British, Commonwealth and European heavyweight champion Joe Joyce.
And the trio of nights will kick off Stateside on October 16 when former four-weight world champion Mikey Garcia returns.
Garcia will meet European super-lightweight champion Sandor Martin in a non-title showdown at Chukchansi Park in Fresno, California.
That card will feature a pair of world title contests, as Elwin Soto defends his WBA light-flyweight belt against Jonathan Gonzalez and Esteban Bermudez takes on Jesse Rodriguez in a defence of the regular version of the aforementioned WBA crown in the 108-pound division.
Further details to the cards will be revealed in due course.
