Frank Warren has offered Kell Brook and Luke Campbell the chance square off against Liam Smith and Terry Flanagan, respectively, in 2017.
Both, Brook vs Smith and Flanagan vs Campbell would generate great interest in the UK and would prove lucrative for all involved, yet according to Warren, neither Brook nor Campbell has responded to his offer.
“I’ve offered Kell Brook good money to fight Liam Smith,” Warren told BoxNation. “We put a great offer on the table for Luke Campbell to fight Terry Flanagan, but we’ve not even had an answer.”
IBF Welterweight champion, Brook, and former WBO super welterweight champion, Smith, are both coming off losses to Gennady Golovkin and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, respectively. As such, this fight would be a brilliant way to bounce back to the top.
Flanagan vs Campbell, with the WBO lightweight title (currently held by Flanagan) on the line, is also a mouthwatering prospect.
“It’s [Flanagan vs Campbell] a great fight for the fans and that’s what we’re in the business of doing – making great fights. It was a substantial offer,” said Frank Warren.
An intriguing clash between Terry Flanagan and Luke Campbell for Turbo’s WBO World Lightweight Title is one that could divide opinion about who would win.
“It’s a great fight for the fans and that’s what we’re in the business of doing – making great fights. It was a substantial offer,” said Warren.
“You can only ask him [why he wouldn’t take it], and the press should ask. Luke Campbell is a good fighter, he’s a great ambassador for the sport, he’s done everything in the Olympics”.
