Singh destroys Gillen in first round

Vijender Singh

Indian boxing prodigy Vijender Singh (2-0) demolished Dean Gillen (2-1) in the first round at the National Stadium in Dublin.

Gillen went to the canvas midway through the first round but the referee ruled it a slip. Singh, however, wasn’t so sure and went straight on the offensive with a relentless attack. Once Singh had Gillen in the corner he unleashed a powerful right, flooring Gillen, who was unable to beat the count.

Francis Warren stated “That was very very impressive from Vijender and I’m delighted that he made such a big statement here tonight in Dublin.”

Singh has one more bout scheduled for 2015, on December 19th at the Manchester Arena on the undercard of Andy Lee vs. Billy Joe Saunders.
