Peter Fury, trainer and uncle of WBO/IBO/WBA heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18KOs), has revealed that Klitschko vs. Fury II will take place in either the UK or the UAE.
Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53KOs), who suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Fury last November, announced he would be utilising the rematch clause written into their first contract shortly after his defeat. Both camps are currently hard at work, ironing out the finer details of the rematch in order to get a new deal signed.
“We are trying to locate and secure the venue and get moving forward,” said Fury, speaking to Sky Sports. “I’m hoping sometime soon we can get it announced. Nothing is set and it all depends on the venue.
“The fight is going to take place in one of two places; it’s either going to be in the UAE or in the United Kingdom. It’s a toss-up between the two and talks are ongoing. The best package will take it. It’s just about maximising revenue.
“Klitschko is happy to come to London and fight in the UK. He hasn’t got a problem with it. Neither fighter is really bothered where it’s at. Tyson would prefer it in England. I would as well but it’s about where it makes the most revenue. That’s contracted.”
