Shane Mosley (49-9-1, 41 KOs) added another win to his record, stopping Patrick Lopez (23-6, 14 KOs) in the 10th round of their bout at the Roberto Duran Arena in Panama City, Panama on Thursday.
Mosley suffered a cut in the first round but recovered well enough to send Lopez to the canvas in the second.
Lopez, to his credit, caught Mosley with some powerful shots the third and fourth rounds. However, he was not consistently active and his sub-par work rate contributed toward his defeat.
In the tenth, Mosley sent Lopez to the canvas twice, with the referee calling a halt to proceedings after the second knockdown.
Mosley’s power clearly remains, but his age showed in the fight and his defence was poor.
The main event of the evening saw interim WBA World super flyweight champion Luis Concepcion (34-4, 24KOs) score a unanimous decision against Hernan Marquez (39-7-1, 28KOs). It was sweet revenge for Concepcion who suffered two KO losses to Marquez in 2011.
