Former IBF middleweight champion, David Lemieux, claimed a third round knockout victory over Curtis Stevens at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in New York.
Lemieux caught Stevens with a with a powerful left hook, which left Stevens unconscious and forced referee, Charlie Fitch, to immediately wave off the bout.
In the opening round, Stevens got a taste of Lemieux’s power through a series of stinging body shots.
In the second, Stevens retaliated, landing power shots on Lemieux.
A minute into the third round, Lemieux threw a right hand, which although Stevens blocked, forced him back into the ropes. Both fighters tried to throw a power shot, but Lemieux was the quicker of the two. His hook landed flush and ended the bout in a brutal fashion.
“I told you before I did it,” said, Lemieux. “I told you what I was gonna do tonight, and I did it. I hope he’s healthy and everything is good.
“It was a perfect connection. It’s what we’ve been practicing for and what we’ve been looking forward to doing.”
