Amir Khan (31-3, 19KOs) spoke to Kugan Cassius of iFLTV in the build up to his showdown with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez on May 7th. During the interview, Khan was asked about the possibility of a showdown with Kell Brook in the future.
“I think it’s gone, to be honest. I did put it to Brook, I did put it to Eddie [Hearn] and his team as well,” said Khan.
“Before this fight with Canelo was announced I said ‘Look let’s get this fight done, let’s talk numbers, let’s talk about the fight happening.’ Seemed to me they didn’t want it, and that’s why the fight didn’t happen, and that’s why I went and picked Canelo.
“But look, I wanted the fight [with Brook], I’m not afraid of the fight. [As] for those people who say I am afraid of the fight – I just think they don’t know what they’re on about. Because, if I’m fighting someone who’s much more dangerous, bigger and much stronger in Canelo then [if I was scared] I’d rather take an easier fight, which is Kell Brook – someone who I know I can beat, easily.”
