Kell Brook’s Top Five Opponents

Kell Brook

Kevin McIntyre

Kelvin Hall, Glasgow – 14 November 2008

The bout that first announced Brook to the wider audience as a top talent. Still boxing as a Frank Warren fighter at the time, Kell had taken possession of the vacant British welterweight title after knocking out Barrie Jones. Scotland’s McIntyre was from the school of hard knocks and had five losses on his slate, but had held the British title himself until recently, having taken it off talented traveller Tony Doherty (unbeaten in 20 fights) and twice defended it against fellow Scotsman Kevin Anderson. Enjoying a rich vein of form that tempted some seasoned boxing scribes to pick him to win the bout, southpaw McIntyre was blitzed by Brook and dropped multiple times en route to a first-round stoppage.
