Kell Brook’s Top Five Opponents

Kell Brook

Carson Jones I

WON – PTS 12
Sheffield Arena, Sheffield – 7 July 2012

Brought in to further bridge the gap between European and world level, Jones was the ultimate gatekeeper and the perfect foil for Kell to look good and move on to better things. That was the plan anyway. Jones arrived with plenty of hope, and by the final stages of the fight Brook was struggling with the pace and intensity of his opponent. Sporting a bloodied nose, Brook won a majority decision in the IBF eliminator and gained valuable rounds and knowledge from the uncomfortable experience. “I think I’ve proved I’ve got the heart. I stood my ground and did what I needed to get the fight,” Brook said post-fight. Two fights later in a rematch in Hull, Brook knocked Jones out in the eighth.
