Brandon Rios (33-3-1 24KOs) has decided to part ways with his trainer, Robert Garcia.
Garcia announced the split via Instagram, stating that Rios will now work under the stewardship of his father, Manuel Rios.
“Regarding my brother Brandon Rios, I am no longer training him,” said, Garcia. “We talked and both came to an agreement that if anyone else should train him it should be his dad”.
During his last outing in November, Rios, a former lightweight champion, suffered a ninth-round TKO loss to Timothy Bradley. In a post-fight interview, an emotional Rios announced his retirement but later decided it was not quite time to hang up the gloves.
