Liverpool’s Anthony Fowler maintained his unbeaten run, with a highlight reel knockout against a previously undefeated Craig O’Brien.
From the opening bell, Fowler controlled the contest, steadily working the body of O’Brien, and looking to slow his opponent down.
By the sixth round, the body shots had taken their toll and Fowler was able to unleash a devastating left hook, leaving O’Brien on the canvas and unable to beat the count.
“I didn’t care about the headshots because I was hitting his body, and I knew the shot would come,” said Fowler, speaking to Sky Sports.
Fowler now aims to continue his rise through the ranks, with his sights set on the likes of Scott Fitzgerald, Ted Cheeseman and Michael Zerafa.
“Next three fights I want to box, and obviously Eddie [Hearn]’s the boss, and Dave [Coldwell]’s okayed it, so I want to fight Scott Fitzgerald, Commonwealth title [Champion, Michael Zerafa], and then Ted Cheeseman.
“The fans want it, I’m here to entertain, and not box kids who aren’t on my level. I want real fights. Craig O’Brien gave me a real fight tonight, caught me with a few shots the coach won’t be happy with. But, overall it was an improvement and I want to step up now and show you what I’m about.”
