We now know that Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) will face Timothy Bradley (31-1-1 13 KOs) – much to our dismay – for the third time. What some of you wont know is that Pacquiao delayed announcing his next opponent for so long because he was chasing a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26 KOs).

However, Floyd Mayweather Sr. told Thaboxingvoice.com that such a fight wont happen “[Pacquiao] want a fight with Floyd Jr. He want the biggest payout, you know. That’s all that is. He want it but he ain’t gone get it”.

Pacquiao has now chosen the least popular of the three named candidates, Timothy Bradley, as his next opponent. Amir Khan was arguably the most popular choice but was muscled out of the race by Bob Arum who was determined to keep the fight in-house. Terence Crawford was a very popular choice among some hardcore fans and pundits but such a fight at this stage would be a hard sell.

That being said Pacquiao vs. Bradley III has Bob Arum desperately trying to pack the undercard with interesting or semi-interesting bouts in order to boost sales.
