Floyd Mayweather Jr (49-0) has been stripped of his WBC titles at 147 and 154 lbs.
WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman, announced the decision at the annual WBC convention which is taking place this week in Kunming, China.
Mayweather, who retired after his bout with Andre Berto on September 12th has been given Champion Emeritus status by the WBC. This means that Mayweather can have an immediate fight with the champion if he so wishes.
Amir Khan and Danny Garcia, are ranked number 1 and 2 respectively and it’s looking increasingly likely that the pair will face off for the 147lbs title in early 2016.
It is likely that a tournament will decide who will take the 154lbs title with a host of potential candidates vying for the chance to take the crown.
