Antoine Douglas (19-0-1) stopped Les Sherrington (35-8) during the fourth round in the main event of ShoBox: The New Generation quadruple header Friday live on SHOWTIME.
The battle for the WBO International 160lb title saw Douglas send Sherrington to the canvas five times before the fight was stopped at 1:02 in the fourth round.
Douglas has now scored five victories in a row on ShoBox. Steve Farhood, a ShoBox analyst, commented “Tonight was Antoine’s graduation from ShoBox. Now he’ll move up to bigger and better things.”
The co-main event saw Taras Shelestyuk (13-0) dominate Aslanbek Kozaev (26-2-1) to take the WBO-NABO Regional Welterweight title.
Shelestyuk, who won Bronze at the 2012 Olympic games, looked impressive, using his height advantage to control the bout. Two of the judges scored the bout 100-90, and the other scored it 99-91.
A more competitive bout saw Welterweight Keenan Smith (9-0) win a unanimous eight-round decision over Benjamin Whitaker (10-2).
Keenan was cut by a clash of heads in the sixth round but went on to score a knockdown in the seventh and win the contest with scores of 79-73 and 78-74 twice.
The opening bout of the evening saw, Lightweight, O’Shaquie Foster (8-1), suffer his first defeat at the hands of Sam Teah (7-1) via unanimous decision with scores of 79-73 and 77-75 twice.
