Jamie Conlan will square off against tough Nicaraguan, Yader Cardoza, for the vacant WBC International Silver Super-Flyweight Championship at the Belfast Waterfront on Saturday 18th February.
The undefeated Irishman, keen to make serious moves in 2017, aims to win another belt on home soil before pursuing a world title shot later in the year.
However, Conlan is by no means underestimating the Nicaraguan and realises the threat posed by Cardoza, a former world title challenger.
“Expect fireworks”, Conlan said. “This is a great opportunity to get my hands on another belt and I’m not going to waste it. Cardoza has fought at World level but that belt has my name on it and I’m going to send my fans home happy.
“I need to get in there and get the job done. My team has really pushed me forward and we’ve been making some great progress over the past few months. There are some huge fights out there for me and I’m going to kick the year off with a new belt around my waist.”
Also on the undercard, Irish amateur star, Paddy Barnes, makes his second outing as a professional and Dublin’s Declan Geraghty squares off against Belfast’s James Tennyson for the Irish Super-Featherweight title.
Tickets priced £30, £40, £50, £60, £80, £100 & £150 VIP are available from waterfront.co.uk
