Caoimhin Agyarko joins Hearn and Matchroom

Caoimhin Agyarko has signed a long-term promotional deal with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing.

The undefeated Belfast fighter (9-0, 6 KOs) had previously been promoted by Frank Warren and Queensberry.

But Agyarko, who turned over back in 2018 after ditching the Holy Family vest and headguard, has now jumped across the divide shortly after teaming up with Paul Ready and STN Sports.

“I’m absolutely over the moon to have signed with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing,” said the 24-year-old, who is nicknamed ‘Black Thunder’. “I’m really excited about this next chapter in my career. I believe my manager Paul Ready has got me the perfect opportunity to showcase my skills and I have full belief that Matchroom will make me the first black Irish world champion.”

Hearn has been very vocal, having welcomed Agyarko to the Matchroom ranks, and insists that he has a real talent on his hands.

“We had a chance to sign this young man just as he turned pro and I let it slip,” he said. “I then started watching him fight and was questioning my decision. Fate, thankfully, produced a full circle and he signed with STN, we spoke to them and did a long-term promotional deal with him.

“I feel we’ve got him at a great time because he’s ready to go.”

Details regarding Agyarko’s first assignment as a Matchroom fighter, as he looks to go into double figures in the paid code, will be revealed soon.
