Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (46-1-1 32KOs) will defend his WBC middleweight title against Amir Khan (31-3 19KOs) in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 7th.
Although there has been no formal confirmation, Team Khan have told BNTV that the fight will take place at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The announcement has certainly shocked the boxing world with nobody predicting such a tantalising match-up.
Khan, who fights at welterweight, undoubtedly faces a very tough test against a much bigger Canelo. On fight night Canelo is likely to enter the ring anywhere between 10 and 20 pounds heavier than Khan. Such a size advantage could be very dangerous for Khan unless he can remain elusive for the full twelve rounds.
To win this fight, Khan needs to enter the ring on May 7th stronger than he’s ever been, in control of his speed and footwork, knowing that the best form of offence is a good defence.
Canelo, however, will be looking to use his size, power and impeccable timing to catch Khan off guard and get the stoppage.
