2016 Boxing Roundup

Gary “Spike” O’Sullivan

Gary “Spike” O’Sullivan, is a larger than life, middleweight contender, fighting out of Cork, Ireland. You can follow him on Twitter @spike_osullivan.

Most underrated active boxer?

Jono Carroll, simply because he hasn’t been in very big fights yet but he has buckets of talent and I expect he will soon become very highly rated!

What was your Fight of the Year in 2016?

Dereck Chisora Vs Dillian Whyte. What a fight! Best nights boxing I’ve ever seen! The second best FOTY was also on the same night – Buglioni Vs Burton.

What was your Round of the Year in 2016?

My round of the year was the twelfth round of Buglioni Vs Burton. Frank needed the KO and right after taking a number of shots, staggering backwards across the ring, he counters with a peach of a right to floor Burton and win the British Light Heavyweight title – unbelievable!

What was the best KO of 2016?

Gotta to go to Frank Buglioni after that sensational KO of Hosea Burton in the last minute of the 12th Rd hard to beat that

What was the worst fight of 2016?

A toss of a coin between Anthony Joshua Vs Charles Martin and Anthony Joshua Vs Eric Molina.

It has nothing to do with Joshua either, those guys just never deserved the opportunity to be in with him – they were shite. I’d beat them myself and I’m a middleweight!

Which fight do you most want to see in 2017?

Myself Vs GGG. I believe I can beat GGG and I’d love the chance to do it!

The five boxing wizards jump quickly.
