For Lee, this contest will be the first action he has tasted since losing his WBO crown to Billy Joe Saunders in December 2015.
For Leatherwood, who shares a common opponent with Lee, this will be arguably his toughest test to date.
That common opponent they share is, of course, John Jackson.
When Leatherwood squared off against Jackson in 2011, he was stopped in the sixth round of their ten round contest for the vacant WBC Youth World super welterweight title.
However, Andy Lee would come from behind to stop Jackson in spectacular fashion when they met at Madison Square Garden some three years later.
