Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs Amir Khan

T-Mobile Arena, Las Vegas – 7 May 2016

Khan’s audacious jump in weight came out of the blue and ended pretty much how many expected.

Despite using his extra speed to good effect in the early stages, Khan was undone by a Canelo decoy body shot that opened him up square for a cracking right-hand flush on the jaw.

Just like his domestic rival, Kell Brook, who later that year would put in a brave performance, but ultimately be too small for Gennady Golovkin, Amir found out that when fighting an elite level opponent who is also a much bigger man, he is not only more likely to win but should also be expected to punch pretty hard too.
