Amir Khan close to sealing deal with Terence Crawford

Amir Khan

Amir Khan has confirmed to Boxing News TV that he is currently in negotiations for a fight with WBO Welterweight Champion, Terence Crawford, and is keen to take the fight.

News of the potential showdown surfaced yesterday when The Daily Mail broke the news that Khan was on the verge of signing a deal to fight Terence Crawford.

“Fighting the pound for pound number one would be amazing,” said Khan to The Daily Mail. “To win would be even better so I think I’m in a position where I can get that fight with the pound for pound number one at the moment.”

Keith Idec then tweeted that multiple sources had confirmed Khan was a target for Crawford.

Idec then quoted Top Rank’s Carl Moretti confirming that Khan was on their radar.

Khan added further weight to the rumours while speaking to Sky Sports, when he said he felt the Brook fight will always be an option for him, regardless of what move he makes in his career.

“I feel like he’s always going to be there so I’d rather fight these world champions, fight for these pound-for-pound titles because I know Kell is always going to be there,” said Khan. “And if he’s not, he’s not.”
